End of life

Lock of hair, said to be King George III's (1760-1820)

Seen either as the end of a journey or the beginning of a new one, death has always been of vital concern to the living.

These exhibits explore a range of perspectives on death, from the material to the spiritual.

Medicine owes a huge debt of gratitude to the dead, and human remains are still used for research and teaching. Some parts of the dead, such as transplanted organs, continue to give new life and power to the living.
