Genomes

Detail from Bud, 2002, Glass and genetically modified soybeans, Rob Kesseler (British)

This online taster provides just a glimpse of what you would see in Wellcome Collection's penetrating and provocative 'Medicine Now' gallery of medical exhibits and contemporary art. Treat your mind to a visit soon.

'Genomes' looks at the scientific study of DNA (the ‘chemical code of life’), as well as its social and cultural significance. Sequencing the human genome has suggested new ways of understanding who we are and where we came from. It also promises deeper knowledge and better medical treatments, while at the same time throwing up serious social and cultural challenges.
