Emma is having a great time: the swish job in the media, the shiny apartment. But, following one particularly bad day - heavy cold, crazy working hours and a drunken break-up with her boyfriend - she finds herself crying on the Tube heading home. She doesn't notice the naked man in her carriage until all its other occupants have (understandably) scarpered and the doors have sealed shut. Despite her robust efforts to encourage him to leave her alone, he proceeds to insinuate his way into her life: five minutes later they're standing on the platform arguing; an hour later they're still arguing, but in her apartment … Days, weeks and months later, they're still together and she has begun to depend upon him.
'Something Somatic' is a play about the relationship we all have with our bodies and their uninvited guests.
This performance contains strong language and scenes of nudity.
Produced in collaboration with Professor Anthony Pinching (Peninsula Medical School), directed by Jeff Teare, designed by Miriam Nabarro and presented by Theatrescience.
The performance on Saturday 1 December will be followed by a Q&A with Simon Turley and Tony Pinching of Peninsula Medical School.
This event is free.
