'Malingerer's Guide to How to Appear Ill', 1944
This novel piece of propaganda was distributed among British
troops in Italy towards the end of World War II. Disguised as a
book of matches, the minutely printed pamphlet provided a complete
guide to malingering, including detailed instructions on how to
simulate the symptoms of almost every disease, advice on how to
obtain the necessary drugs from an Italian chemist and how to
behave during a medical examination.
