Nutritional information on food packaging
2005
Food manufacturers are not currently legally obliged to provide
nutrition information, unless they make a nutrition claim for the
food. However, many supermarkets and food producers do now include
this information voluntarily, sometimes using a 'traffic light'
system. This shows you at a glance if the food has high, medium or
low amounts of fat, saturated fat, sugars and salt - this system is
thought to be easier for consumers to understand than a list of
figures and percentages.
