This film is one of the earliest surviving film records of
bacteriological research. It illustrates the movement and
agglutination of both typhoid and cholera bacilli.
Bacillus typhosus is shown at various magnifications. Cholera
microbes, taken from cases in Bombay have been cultivated in a
broth, and their tendency to clump together shown. The two sections
have different titles, and are possibly two separate films put
together at a later date.
The origin and original use of the film are unknown, though some
of the footage could be from the Bombay Plague Laboratory (now the
