The Arab Hospital, Granada, Spain
Steel engraving by Ribault and JJ Sulpis after F Enriquez, 18th century
The Arab hospital in Granada was founded in the mid-14th
century. Between the Arab invasion of Spain in the 8th century and
1492, when the last Muslim leader, Muhammad XII, surrendered the
city to the Catholic monarchs Ferdinand and Isabella, Arabic
culture and science flourished in Granada.
