We have been closing early on Thursdays so we can transform the
ground floor of Wellcome Collection with the addition of a new
flexible lighting scheme designed by Casson Mann with Jonathan Coles. It includes a
lighting 'cloud' above the café made of more than 200 pieces of
scientific laboratory glassware lit by individual LEDs. For the
first time, it will allow us to reflect the mood and atmosphere of
a range of events and activities programmed specially for the space
such as our Supper Salons and the series of events to celebrate our
'High Society' exhibition opening in November 2010. The work is
intended for completion by 20 September 2010.
The Peyton and Byrne café and Blackwell bookshop are also open
at the times outlined above, but please note that the bookshop
closes at 20.00 on Thursdays.
