Gallery tours

We offer free guided tours of the galleries for groups of eight to 20, although we can often accommodate up to 40 by splitting the group. For guided tours, one of our knowledgeable Visitor Services Assistants will lead you through the exhibition(s) of your choice, picking out objects and themes of interest. Tours last 30 minutes per gallery, and you can choose one or two galleries to see, including our special exhibitions (when available). Please let us know what your students are studying and we will try to tailor our tour content to you.

Self-guided visits are also welcome, although we would greatly appreciate it if you could let us know when you are planning to visit.

To organise a self-guided visit or a guided tour, please complete our group visit enquiry form and read our group visit guidelines. A member of our Groups team will personally respond to your enquiry as soon as possible.

Breakout and teaching spaces

Unfortunately we are unable to provide a dedicated space for groups to use for teaching purposes or picnics as part of a visit to Wellcome Collection. Groups are welcome to use the café if there is enough space, but only food from Peyton & Byrne can be consumed in this area, and the café is unable to take table reservations. Several nearby parks may provide a scenic alternative for picnics in summer. Alternatively, the Plaza outside Euston Station has picnic tables available for public use.

Please note
: our galleries are closed on Mondays and all group visits are subject to the availability of exhibitions and/or guides. We consider our gallery content to be most suitable for visitors aged 14+. If you are planning on bringing a group under the age of 14, please call 020 7611 2222 or email info@wellcomecollection.org to discuss the content of our exhibitions and the suitability of a tour. All visitors should be aware that our permanent exhibitions and many of our special exhibitions contain human remains, objects with sexual content and images of graphic surgical procedures.
