5x15: Belief
Wednesday 5 December 2012, 19.30-21.00

This specially curated '5x15' event will
feature five experts in conversation with one another in a daisy
chain of five 15-minute interviews on the subject of belief. Each
speaker has chosen someone who they would particularly like to
question on this fascinating and contentious topic, so interviewee
will take the place of interviewer as we move along the chain.
Matthew Taylor, Chief Executive of the RSA,
will speak to his father, the sociologist and broadcaster Professor
Laurie Taylor, who chose to talk to Kenan Malik, writer and
broadcaster and author of 'From Fatwa to Jihad: The Rushdie affair
and its legacy'. Kenan will then be in conversation with Nick
Spencer, Research Director at the Theos think-tank, which
seeks to inform debate about the place of religion in society. Nick
will, in turn, speak to Linda Woodhead, Professor of the Sociology
of Religion at Lancaster University. To complete the circle of five
conversations, Linda will then interview Matthew. Expect an evening
of wit, insight and investigation.
