Adolescent Body

04 March 2010, 19.00 - 20.30

Two teenage boys sitting in a park.

During the teenage years the body clock goes out of sync, hormones rage and emotions boil over. How should scientific research inform social changes? Should girls be treated differently from boys? And can science help parents to recognise - and remember - the marvellous things about adolescence, including peak condition and a fresh outlook on life?

Speakers:
John Coleman, psychologist, Founder of the Trust for the Study of Adolescence, Brighton
Russell Foster, chronobiologist, Chair of Circadian Neuroscience, University of Oxford, and co-author of 'Rhythms of Life: The biological clocks that control the daily lives of every living thing'
Vivienne Parry, medical journalist, author of 'The Truth about Hormones'

Facilitator:
Alison Baverstock, co-author of ‘Whatever! A down-to-earth guide to parenting teenagers’.

This event is free.
