African Encounters
05 November 2009, 19.00 - 20.15

A Wellcome Library event
Two performances, each inspired by an object in the Wellcome
Library's collections, illuminate a meeting of cultures in West
Africa 200 years ago.
A Mandinka Prayer sheet illustrating the meeting of African and
Islamic cultures across the Sahara, and the exercise book of an
African boy working as surgeon's assistant aboard HMS Scout inspire
two performances. Part of the
Camden Black History Season.
