Gwen Adshead is a consultant forensic psychotherapist at Broadmoor Hospital, a high-security psychiatric hospital in Berkshire. Here she oversees some of society's most problematic personalities, attempting to understand psychotic behaviour and find ways of treating it. She also has a degree in ethics and an interest in the relationship between doctors and their patients. Se talked to A C Grayling about what medicine can do for people with personality disorders, and whether hospital is the right place to hold them.
