15 September 2011, 19.00 - 20.30

Man tortured by indigestion
Appetite is the body's complex and still mysterious system for regulating our food intake. It involves our guts, brains and genes. We show you how in today’s world the system can sometimes go wrong and how we can fix it. Our speakers discuss whether an understanding of the chemistry can help us control appetite and therefore our weight.

Speakers:
Waljit Dhillo, Professor in Endocrinology and Metabolism, Imperial College, London
Dr E. Leigh Gibson, Reader in Biopsychology, University of Roehampton
Alasdair MacKenzie, Reader, Institute of Medical Sciences, University of Aberdeen

Facilitator: Robin McKie, Science Editor, The Observer
