Space flight wreaks havoc on the body, but its effects will have to be overcome if we are ever to investigate the far reaches of our solar system. Kevin Fong is co-director of the Centre for Aviation Space and Extreme Environment Medicine at UCL and has spent time at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston investigating the effects of long-term space flight on the human body. He talks to the Wellcome Trust's Daniel Glaser about the extreme physiology of space travel.

This packed lunch event was recorded live on 9 February 2011 at Wellcome Collection.
