Pilgrimage
16 February 2012, 18.00 - 22.00

A late-night journey into the land of miracles.
Whether seeking cures, isolation,
understanding or miracles, pilgrimage is fundamental to almost all
cultures and at all times in history. By understanding the
nature of the ‘journey’, both spiritual and physical, we can
uncover perceptions about miracle cures, the power of belief and
the pilgrim’s need for a souvenir.
This event will explore several aspects of
pilgrimage through hands-on activities, films and discussions.
Stamp your pilgrim passport
at Henry Wellcome’s souvenir photo boards.
Hear pilgrim tales of Our
Lady of Walsingham by Hugh Lupton, accompanied by music.
Take away your own pilgrim souvenir
badge from Paul Wye’s travelling reliquary chest.
Hear Qaisra Khan, fresh from the Hajj
exhibition at the British Museum, unravel the meaning of
this spiritual journey.
Capture a photo souvenir in
a fantastic photo booth from The Mighty Booth.
Check out Miracles and
Charms (now in its final weeks).
Rest your weary feet and quench your thirst
at our café and bar, which will be open
throughout.
Tickets for some activities are available in advance of
the event.
