The Poynter Lecture
24 March 2010, 18.00 - 20.00

The modern discipline of medical ethics is regarded as
postdating the Nuremberg Trials, and has become largely the
preserve of philosophers. However, in the Georgian era, it was the
doctors who were the opinion formers, publicly debating the medical
issues of the day. Join Ruth Richardson to examine the range of
British humanitarian commentary in the context of the medicine and
surgery of the period.
Speaker: Ruth Richardson, Visiting Professor in
Humanities, Hong Kong university and Affiliated Scholar in History
and Philosophy of Science, University of Cambridge
