The Thing Is... The Mummy's Curse

Sunday 24 February 2013, 15.00-16.00

Roger Luckhurst, a cultural historian at Birkbeck College, University of London, will explore supernatural beliefs about Egyptian artefacts in this talk. Hear how myth, mystery and rumour fuelled this obsession in Victorian Britain and the meaningful political and historical whispers that these stories hold.

This event is FREE.

For blind and partially sighted visitors:
Members of Wellcome Collection’s Visitor Services team have been trained in audio description techniques by VocalEyes.

Join members of the team from 14.00 for audio descriptions of the ‘mystery object’, the event space and set-up, and descriptions of a small number of relevant objects from our library collections. Please note there will be no     audio description during the event.
