Quentin Cooper and Professor Hugh Pennington discuss the changes brought about by Joseph Lister and his battle against hospital-acquired infection.

The mystery object revealed during the event was a metal antiseptic (carbolic) spray, with a pottery handle and glass nozzle, with its own wooden box.

This object is from the Wellcome Collection at the Science Museum, reference number A56263.
