Liz Anelli
Liz has been a cheerful part of the
illustration industry for over 20 years, drawing and exploring
imagined worlds and inventive ideas through international
commissions, research and exhibitions.
Alongside making pictures for magazines,
websites and children’s books she lectures in universities and
devises cross-curricular projects for schools. She has been one of
the key arts practitioners for the Campaign for Drawing, organising
and facilitating many successful Big Draws in the UK and
internationally (most recently for the Venice Biennale).
Travelling extensively with the British
Council and delivering illustration workshops in countries
from Venezuela to Kyrgyzstan has allowed her space to
develop her sketchbooks and be very nosy in other countries,
gathering ideas and references for her artwork.
Liz’s development is through interrogating the
everyday, weaving together snatches of overheard conversation
through drawing, collaged ephemera, paper engineering and
monoprint. She takes inspiration from listening to other people’s
stories.
