1.       By entering the Competition, you agree to comply with these Terms and Conditions and to allow the Wellcome Trust to use your personal data for the administration of the Competition and any other purposes to which you have consented.

2.       The Competition is run by the Wellcome Trust and the prize is kindly provided by Journey Latin America (“JLA”). JLA’s standards terms and conditions of travel apply and can be found at journeylatinamerica.co.uk.

3.       You must be over 18 and resident in the UK (including the Channel Islands). The Competition is not open to employees of JLA, The Wellcome Trust, their families or any agencies or person connected with the Competition.

4.       To enter the Competition you must enter your answer to the Competition question and your first name, surname and email address on the Competition webpage before the Closing Date. You may only enter the Competition once; only completed entries will be accepted. The Wellcome Trust cannot accept responsibility for any entries which are not received or are received after the Closing Date for any reason.

5.       The Competition will run from 6 October 2011 until 26 February 2012 at 5pm GMT (the "Closing Date").

6.       The winner of the Competition will win a holiday for two people to Mexico. The prize will include:

a.       Two return flights from London to Mexico City in economy. The flights may not be direct and the winner may have to transfer en route.

b.      Four nights’ accommodation in Mexico City.

c.      Three nights’ accommodation in Guanajuato.

d.      Two nights’ accommodation in San Miguel de Allenda.

e.      Land transfers in Mexico.

7.       The prize is non-transferable and no cash alternative will be offered in exchange for the prize.

8.       The winner will be the first entrant drawn at random from a draw of the correctly answered entries under the supervision of an independent person at the Wellcome Trust. The winner will be informed by email by 31 March 2012.

9.       The winner must book their travel by 14 April 2012 or the prize will lapse. The winner must travel between 1 May 2012 and 30 June 2012 or between 1 September 2012 and 30 November 2012. All travel dates are subject to availability.

10.   JLA will be told the winner's details. JLA may require the winner to submit valid identification before receiving their prize.

11.   The winner must ensure that they and their guest have valid passports and travel insurance at the time of travel and the winner must comply with and is responsible for attending to any inoculation and health regulations or visa requirements required for their destination.

12.   The Wellcome Trust reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time on giving notice through the Competition webpage. All details and other restrictions of the prize not specified in these Terms and Conditions shall be determined by the Wellcome Trust at its sole discretion.

13.   These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law and will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

14.   If you choose to receive emails from the Wellcome Trust your email address and name will be added to the Wellcome Trust’s database. Under the UK Data Protection Act 1998, the Wellcome Trust follows strict security procedures for the storage and processing of any personal information it receives in order to prevent any unauthorised access. You can unsubscribe from the Wellcome Trust’s mailing list at any time by emailing unsubscribe@wellcome.ac.uk.

15.   The Wellcome Trust will not share your personal information with any third party organisation unless you choose to subscribe to JLA’s newsletter in which case your personal details will be passed onto JLA. JLA may also contact you with information or offers concerning holidays to Latin America.

16.   To the extent permitted by law, the Wellcome Trust excludes its liability for any loss, damage, injury, cost or expense suffered by you, directly or indirectly and howsoever caused in connection with the Competition and the prize. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall exclude the Wellcome Trust’s liability for death or personal injury arising from the Wellcome Trust’s own negligence or any other liability that cannot, as a matter of law, be excluded.
